The commentary in Der Spiegel suggests that the artists “depicted Hitler’s hairstyle in the window, but refrained from showing his moustache to avoid getting into trouble”. I’m not sure that’s right, though: to my eyes the moustache is there, but in a “plausibly deniable” way that looks like either a shadow from the nose or a slightly thicker bit of lead.
